"Look at the donut, not the hole." ...age-old advice from one of my former coaches, reminding us to look at what we have, not what we don't

Remember, Babe Ruth may have been one of the great homerun hitters of all time, but he also struck out a lot, too. The job search is just like that, especially in this economy. Keep getting back up there and swinging for the fence!

Thursday's Leads: Can You See Friday Yet?

Can you see Friday yet?

Certainly, we all feel this way at times.  Weeks roll on, and we often find ourselves surviving from week to week, merely living for the weekend.  There's nothing wrong with that sentiment, and it's merely human nature to look ahead to time that we have for ourselves.  But I've always worried that there's a detrimental effect of this way of thinking, too.  I've worried that it speeds up time because we become fixated on that which lies ahead--the weekend, an upcoming vacation, a special holiday--and then we forget to live in the present.  We have to remember the old Roman adage Carpe diem ("Seize the day"), too, for none of us is promised that we'll have a tomorrow.  Accidents and many things that are out of our control can changes our lives in an instant.  Thus, the lesson here is this:  It's fine to look ahead, to plan for the future, to long for the weekend...but we can't forget to  enjoy each day that we have, to live in the present.

Today's Leads:

Now have a great day!
