"Look at the donut, not the hole." ...age-old advice from one of my former coaches, reminding us to look at what we have, not what we don't

Remember, Babe Ruth may have been one of the great homerun hitters of all time, but he also struck out a lot, too. The job search is just like that, especially in this economy. Keep getting back up there and swinging for the fence!

Three Items

1)  Craigslist Warning:  Just a "heads up" that a recent Craigslist ad, which I advertised on this blog, appears to be a scam.  It was for an medical secretary/front desk position at a "busy accupuncture office."  Some respondents to the ad received an email in reply, asking them to provide information about their bank account for "direct deposit."

Obviously, Craigslist is a valid source for potential jobs.  Otherwise, I wouldn't list openings from that site.  We have even had students earn legitimate positions found on that site.  But there are also "sharks" advertising on there, fishing for your information.  So you must be careful.  Do not disclose your bank account information, social security information, etc to someone who hasn't interviewed you in person (at a legitimate place of business) and offered you the job.  Sending your resume to apply through Craigslist isn't all that problematic as most of the information on your resume can probably be obtained online anyway (your name, address, phone number, etc).

This doesn't mean you need to--or even should--stop using Craigslist as a job seeker's tool.  It just means you need to be wise and vigilant in its use.  Trust your common sense!

2)  More openings:
3)  Medical Assistants--There is a position offered at Hanover Orthopaedic Associates for a Medical Assistant.  Requires ability to work front and back office, doing medical assistant clinical duties as well as transcription/proofreading.  Must have good grammar and give attention to detail.  Knowledge of EMR a plus  (Hint, hint:  Medisoft!).      Email resumes and tailored cover letter to steph@hanoverortho.com .
