Pennsylvania's Department of Labor & Industry is soliciting applications for
Clerk Typist 3 and Clerk 3 titles as found on the PA State Civil
Service ADVANCED CLERICAL AND SECRETARIAL POSITIONS test announcement at www.scsc.state.pa.us. Would

Here are the
minimum qualifications from the Civil Service Test Announcement:
NATURE OF WORK
Clerks 3 perform advanced clerical duties,
such as gathering and providing information, sorting, filing and checking
materials.
Clerk Typists 3 perform advanced
clerical duties, such as typing complex materials, composing letters and
memoranda.
Executive Secretaries perform
secretarial work as staff assistants to agency executive staff. Supervision
may be exercised over a small clerical staff.
Secretarial Supervisors provide
secretarial and clerical services to an office and supervise employees who
perform moderately complex secretarial and clerical duties.
Clerical Supervisors are working
supervisors who supervise employees who perform routine and/or moderately
complex clerical duties.
All Clerical and Secretarial Supervisors
assign and review work and are responsible for training, employee development
and performance evaluation. Work at the 2 level is characterized by the
increased complexity, variety and diversity of activities supervised.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
You will be tested before your
qualifications are reviewed. Your test results will count only if you
meet all job requirements. If after reading the requirements you are not
sure you qualify, contact one of the Commission’s offices listed at the end of
this announcement.
You must be a Pennsylvania resident, of good
moral character and able to perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Requirements
Clerk 3
Six months as a Clerk 2; OR 1 year
of progressively complex clerical experience; OR 6 months of moderately
complex clerical experience and completion of a post high school business
curriculum.
Clerk Typist 3
Six months as a Clerk Typist 2; OR 1
year of progressively complex clerical typing experience; OR 6 months of
moderately complex clerical typing experience and completion of a post high
school business curriculum.
Executive Secretary 1
Three years of progressively responsible
experience in secretarial work.
Executive Secretary (Local Government)
Five years of progressively responsible
experience in secretarial work. Appropriate formal post high school
secretarial training may be substituted for the required experience on a
year-for-year basis up to 4 years.
Secretarial Supervisor 1
One year of secretarial experience that
included assigning and reviewing work.
Secretarial Supervisor 2
One year of secretarial experience that
included 6 months of lead worker experience.
Clerical Supervisor 1
One year of moderately complex clerical
work experience.
Clerical Supervisor 2
One year as a Clerical Supervisor 1; OR 2
years of complex clerical work experience; OR 3 years of moderately
complex clerical work experience that included 6 months of clerical lead worker
experience.
Equivalent combinations of experience and
training are acceptable for all job titles.
Clarification of Requirements
You may substitute related education for
the required experience or appropriate experience for the required
education. Unrelated experience or education will not be accepted.

Walk-In-Testing
Information (in case test dates are full)
Walk-In testing is an option on most
testing days on a first-come, first-served basis based upon “available seating”.
Since these events are unpredictable, applicants are advised to call the PA
State Civil Service Commission or testing center before visiting to see if
walk-in testing is an option.
