"Look at the donut, not the hole." ...age-old advice from one of my former coaches, reminding us to look at what we have, not what we don't

Remember, Babe Ruth may have been one of the great homerun hitters of all time, but he also struck out a lot, too. The job search is just like that, especially in this economy. Keep getting back up there and swinging for the fence!

Wednesday's Leads

Story:    A lion, extremely proud of himself for having killed and eaten an entire bull, began roaring loudly.  He continued to do so until a hunter came along and shot him.

The moral:  If you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.    ...credited to Will Rogers

Tuesday's Leads

It's easy to get caught up in our daily lives and to forget to appreciate the little things.  We had to put our cat Sophie to sleep last night, and, as any of you who has dealt with the loss of a pet knows, it was a hard thing to do.  Compounding the challenge was explaining the situation to two little boys, little boys who both adored Sophie.  But the situation really served as a reminder to take each moment as a gift.  None of us knows the future, and though we can--and should--work for it, plan for it, and prepare for it, we can't forget to live in the moment and appreciate the little things, too.  After all, those little things are what make our life what it is.

Belated Congratulations

I owe some of our students an apology for this belated congratulations.  With all the extra duties I had to prepare for Sunday's graduation ceremony, I didn't have time to make this post.  Thus, here we go...

Congratulations are in order for the following students who got jobs recently in their field (or in a closely-related field):
  • Donna Stambaugh got a job as a logistics coordinator/clerk at a very good local company.
  • Davida Lauer got a job as a medical assistant.
  • Harry Shaffer got a job as an Ecommerce Administrator with a local computer firm.
  • Jennifer Goldsmith got a job as an administrative assistant.
  • Lisa Windon, who is about to start internship, got a job as a medical secretary/medical office assistant.
Way to go!  I'm very happy for all of you, and I wish you continued success!

Good morning.  I have a lead for a receptionist position at Clarity Way, a private drug rehab center between West York and Hanover.  The pay isn't great, but it is a full-time position (M-F, 8-5).

If you have an interest in the position, please contact me via phone or email to express your interest.  I will then forward your resume to the appropriate person(s).

Monday Leads

Good morning.  I hope that you've been enjoying the weather, but I have to admit that the "spring forward," even though I like the additional daylight, is always tough.  It's tough, too, trying to convince my four-year-old and seven-year-old sons that it is, in fact, bedtime, despite the sun still being up!

Some Additional Leads for Wednesday

PT Office Clerical Lead

Through a contact at Sesame Temps, I received word of an opening for an office clerical employee.

The position is a temp to hire, 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday (9:00am-1:00pm), at a local electrical company on the west end of York.  They are looking to pay $12.00 per hour, and, again, this is temp-to-hire, so if it works well it will turn into a permanent part-time position.

If you are interested, contact Holly at Sesame Temps (717-757-4800).  Tell her that I, Tim Barshinger, have given you this lead.

Let me know if you have any questions.
