"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." --Thomas Jefferson
This Jefferson quotation is an idea that I've heard many times in reading about professional athletes who experience success. It incorporates the notion that luck is not so much a random element, but rather something that we can cultivate and grow through our efforts. It makes sense, too, because it has frequently been proven that chance favors those who are prepared. So the question, then, is simply this: What are you doing to be prepared? What are you doing to improve your luck?
