"Look at the donut, not the hole." ...age-old advice from one of my former coaches, reminding us to look at what we have, not what we don't

Remember, Babe Ruth may have been one of the great homerun hitters of all time, but he also struck out a lot, too. The job search is just like that, especially in this economy. Keep getting back up there and swinging for the fence!

Just Keep Going: Tuesday's Leads

This quotation is vital for all job seekers.  I have seen numerous examples in the last year and a half of students who succeeded, despite difficulty, simply because they "just kept going."

The easy thing in any situation is to give up and walk away, and that is true with a job search, with a difficult marriage, with a disagreement with a friend, or with virtually any other situation where we face adversity.  The less popular and more difficult path is to keep going, to keep fighting.  But the rewards and satisfaction are so much greater when we do succeed under those circumstances, for we have earned it and we have a much greater appreciation of what we've accomplished.

So the inherent lesson, then, is never to give up.  Keep fighting, keep trying, and keep plugging away!  It is in such adversity that our true identity and our greatest achievements are forged.  Let's remember that even diamonds are formed under intense pressure.  Perhaps that adversity, that "pressure," is needed to help us create something of great value in our lives.

Today's Leads:

Have a great day!
