"Look at the donut, not the hole." ...age-old advice from one of my former coaches, reminding us to look at what we have, not what we don't

Remember, Babe Ruth may have been one of the great homerun hitters of all time, but he also struck out a lot, too. The job search is just like that, especially in this economy. Keep getting back up there and swinging for the fence!

Wednesday's Leads: Keeping Grounded

Unfortunately, we've all had days where we feel just like this donkey.  Our workloads, our commitments, our unfulfilled expectations weigh us down and threaten to overwhelm us.  The key in those situations is to focus on that which we can handle.  Little by little, piece by piece, we must keep chipping away at that which seems overwhelming, all the while realizing that we can't just eliminate a huge obstacle without careful and deliberate work.  I see this every day with my four-year-old son.  When instructed to clean up the messes that he makes, he often balks, and a lot of it seems to stem from his feeling of being overwhelmed.  When we break down the job into smaller steps, he can handle it and does a good job with cleaning up.  Maybe all of us need to do that little more when faced with an overwhelming task.  Maybe we just need to break it down into pieces so we can conquer the challenge--and so we aren't letting the challenge conquer us.
Have a great day!
